Difference between standard and deluxe

Post by Onne »

What is the difference? It concerns a Series II 2dr. I found out yesterday my car is a deluxe model..... can't find much deluxe though, no aircon, central locking, ABS ESP..... 8) 8) 8) :D

I think (off the top of my head! ) that deluxe means the car has a heater!!! :)

It usually meant things like having over-riders, ashtray (4-door) and stainless steel door tops.

On the early Minor 1000 it also meant having the duo-tone interior.

And... joy of joys, a passenger sunvisor on Series IIs, I believe!

If you have a look at PoachedEgg - History then you'll find a timeline of major developments in the Minor's build history. I don't know how it compares with export models, but it shouldn't be too different.
Happy Minoring!

I had a 1961 2-door with paperwork that listed deluxe as heater, ashtrays, and leather seats.

the extra chrome lumps that bolt to the bumpers.

Hi,
you also could get a radio fitted with the deluxe model and special order black as a colour (that was in 1966). Mine was a deluxe bought brand new by my parents. Along with the heater, overriders, front parcel shelf with ash trays and a red / cream interior.

Cheers,
Wal

Hi,
the radio was fitted on the drivers side underneath the glove box, above the front parcel shelf and it was a Motorola. It's not there any more - Sony has taken its place.

Regards,
Wal

 and the directions voice sits on the passenger seat right? :D

I believe deluxe also had the white parcel shelf, that was the only suggestion anyone had as to why some minors had white and the majority had black parcel shelves in the duotone years.

That's exactly the same as the first compass I ever had. Aaah, brings back memories of wandering around my school with hand drawn maps...

And there I was thinking my first contact with minordom was Rebecca ;-)
