Almond Green Traveller FLD 457J
Hi
Does anybody own or know where FLD 457J is these days? I sold it in 1982.
It's on DVLA as being taxed, last logbook issued in 2012.
I would love to find out where it is now, and to see any pics.
If the owner is interested I can give them some history.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you've already checked out the DVLA site then that's as far as most of us could go anyway, unless someone on here owns the car.....
If you have any colour pictures of the car scan them into your computer and post them up on here, it may jog someone's memory.
Good luck.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Almond Green Traveller FLD 457J
I could dig out a pic or two, but nothing showy. I bought the trav as a cheap motor in 1978, not knowing what fun owning a Minor would bring me when the Moggie cult took off.
To me, and to many others back then, a Moggie was affordable insurable daily transport, why take a photo of it when photos cost money to develop?
I do have some pics, b&w at Brown Candover Steam Rally (our first introduction to classic events, 1980), and the trav on various campsites in France in 81 and 82.
But would a hazy scan of a standard trav jog a memory? One looks much like another. I will however find at least one for you.
I shall pursue the chase via various MMOC channels and elsewhere and maybe I will strike lucky.
I will let you know if I find it, I would like to do so before a significant date in Autumn 2020!

Another route you could try is to get in touch with Danny Hopkins, the editor of Practical Classics magazine.
They used to do a 'where are they now' feature, trying to help former owners trace cars they once owned or which belonged to parents, grandparents etc. I'm not sure if they still do this but with his experience / contacts he may be able to help in some way.
I'll 'pm' you his email address.
Best wishes,
Mike.

My second Minor was a late 1970 Almond green 2dr saloon , FLL168J. an ex London car as yours would have been. Bought in 1973 when at Norwich City College and last seen many years ago ( c 1982) in Medlars scrapyard.
Best wishes to you and Chris.

Re: Almond Green Traveller FLD 457J
Hi Bryan
I bought FLD 457J in Chelmsford in the summer of 1978 as a replacement for my first ever car, an Austin 1100 reg FLP 547J which I had been told would die sooner than later from terminal rust. I sold it before the rust showed when you looked for all the typical holey points!
FLD was parked on the street with a For Sale notice on it, I gave an engineer mate a bottle of scotch to take a look at it for me as I knew nought, I just needed wheels.

Re: Almond Green Traveller FLD 457J
Hi everyone, I am the owner of FLD 457J.
I saw the 'where are they now' item in the March/April issue of Minor Matters, and have been in touch with Mary and have sent her some history details, now waiting for her reply when she returns to France where she now lives.
Thanks for every ones help.
Stan W.
