Whatever happened to this likely lad?
I checked the DVLA site and it’s recorded as green and last V5 in 2000
Bought this in 1995 in Blaydon, Tyne & Wear from a second hand car dealer who said the previous owner was Chris Pattern, then governer of Hong Kong. Original reg was 424 MAE (how could this be confirmed?)
1961 Morris 1000, white, red interior, was my everyday car from 1995 until 2000. It took us all round Northumberland, the Borders, Cheviots and Cumbria. Used to suffer a commute from Chollerford to Wallsend in Newcastle 5 days a week. Was brilliant on the A, B roads and country lanes.
Had to let it go as I started working at the BAE shipyard in Scotstoun Glasgow and needed a car that could cope better with the Motorways. Swapped it for a brand new Fiat Punto (that had nowt but bother with head gaskets for the 8 years I owned it).
Sold the Minor, taxed and MoT’d to a guy in Cramlington who was going to restore it in 2000. Saw it by chance in 2001, bonnetless, engineless, bootless, no petrol tank or exhaust outside a ‘Sports Car Specialist’ in Swalwell about 2 miles from where I originally bought it. It was still white at that time.
B+W photos because work had a darkroom and I got into developing my own photos for a wee while...
Wondering if it’s still out and about or it’s ultimate fate.
