gearbox tailshaft seal

Post by ian.mcdougall »

Hi all
Does anyone know if the seal for the gearbox tailshaft is the same as the pinion seal on the axle on a sidevalve 53 MM, as I bought a spare when I was replacing the pinion seal and need to replace the tailshaft seal on the gearbox.

thanks Ian

It's a while since I changed the gearbox or diff propshaft pinion seals which I assume you are refering to and I haven't got my parts book with me to cross reference. The diff pinion seal is a rubber seal and the gearbox tail shaft seal is felt I believe but as I am away from home I am unable to check. However if they are different your local bearing supplier should be able to match the old seal.
