Post by Johnno »

Hi all,can anyone tell me if the chrome covers and rubber inserts for the wiper spindles (in fact, all the parts that sit under the arm)are available?
Thanks,John.

Not as far as I know, Ive never saw new ones for sale. Club spares might be your best option for them or put a wanted add here.

As far I know, it is not a chrome cover at the MM, but a rubber.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
I have the old ones, but also like some new ;)

Just to clarify...there are two types of wiper box design for the series MM. The earlier one has the wiper box/spindle mounted on a bracket under the dashboard which has a rubber seal on the top between the body and the spindle.

The later type wiper box/spindle is held with an aluminium spacer and nut from the top with no bracket under the dash.

I don't know when the change over happened, I'm sure Mike P would know. The earlier rubber seals are available in the UK.

I 'upgraded' mine to the later style as they are much easier to fit as an assembly and less prone to leaking, and whilst not period correct also look better in my opinion. You just have to enlarge the spindle hole slightly.

I would think it changed to the later one when the short bonnet was stopped.

Mine is a long bonnet, a few months after the short bonnet, and has the old type rubbers.
And because all the parts were together with the car, even the rubbers, I think it was a later moment
