Orange rubber Vs Ethanol

Post by RobThomas »

I've recently refilled both MMs with petrol and now both have suddenly started to small of fuel. Looking at the filler necks I can see that both of the the orange rubber filler neck-to-tank joiners have rotted and gone soft to the point of failing. These are the original ones with "MORRIS" cast into the side when made. Has anyone else found this? I assume it must be Ethanol doing it.

I found a supplier of fuel-resistant silicone hose in red that is an identical size and can be bought for under a fiver, if anyone needs some.

In Europe, a lot of hose manufacturers are active. In the Netherlands we have "Eriks" .
This company has remade the original flexible hose between the pump and the carburettor for me, using the old connections.
I am for sure in your area they are also.
Maybe a dealer from the Parker Hannifin group is in your area, these guys are producing the most idiot hoses...
