I don't think the spark plugs are the problem I think it's the carbs being a bit loose.

What's the guy on the left of the pic (right side of the car) doing with what appears to be a socket spanner extension pointing down to what would be the dynamo location?

In your post of Fri. July 14 at 9:18 AM the article describes the sampling by Wilson McCombe of a Derrington conversion of the popular Post War Morris 8. In your post of Thurs. July 20 at 11:56 AM it shows an enlarged pic of one of the pics shown in the above post ie. working on a motor with a Derrington head. Comments were made re petrol fumes and smoking. Nowhere was I able to see a mention of an Alta head. If this is so where did an Alta head enter the scene? My comment re the guy using a socket spanner on an extension was based on the belief that this was a Derrington head, and he would not have been working on spark plugs which are at the top of the head. Where did I go wrong?

I woz just winding you up! :D

The Derrington is almost the same shape as the standard head. I'd guess he has No1 plug just out or just about to go in? Nothing much else there for him to twist.

Finally, after they've been awaiting their turn in the forge for 3 years....the New ALTA top water castings are finally being poured. I guess I shouldn't have said "no hurry" to the foundry. :D

Only 4 being made. Can't recall who wanted them. Will, TVD (?), Romeo, anyone else?

Mould was destroyed in the process, so, that's all there will be. A little grinding and polishing required so off to garage we go.......

Yesterday I collected a set of wheels, 14 inch by 4.5 and with the correct 4.5 inch PCD to fit the early Series MM bolt pattern and the correct offset. The standard M1000 hubcaps also fit straight on. Result! Didn't even cost me a penny. Visually identical to the Van wheel. :D

Rubery Owen, same as all the factory Minor wheels. I've also got some 4inch width x 14 for the MM and even a set of 4x15s from the Wolseley 4/44. They all have 4.5 inch PCD so will only fit the early cars. Lots of Kia, Hyundai and Nissan wheels also fit, along with MG wheels. Reliant Scimitar wheels also look a good option. US Ford Mustang will fit but the ET is zero against the standard BMC fit of about 35.
The hardest problem to solve is to find wide wheels in 4.5 PCD that look like Minor rims but will also take the standard Minor hubcap, which these do. Not sure which car they were originally fitted to.

Volvo s40 are also ideal if you put a circa 9mm wheel spacer in.

Just need to get the right colour background for the card. thanks for the loan of the original, Carlo!
Lots of fun removing scratches, fading, creases etc from the original iage. I had to do the same for a 1940s photo some years ago so I've had lots of practice.

Looks very good! I have a lable like that that explains the bonnet pull. Stevey recreated the lable off the side of the regulator and even the D from deluxe off the bulhead on his car

Any chance of a photocopier scan of it, David? It would be great to have the 'set'. Saved as a Jpeg file direct from a scanner gives a detailed file.

I need it to be a scan rather than a photo so I can get the grain of the paper shown and to get all the image in great detail so I can repair the damage that comes with age. Takes a long time to get the creases out of an image.

I've got a set of NOS mk1 Stag wheels if anyone's interested. They're 5x14., and they'll take the later Minor hubcaps.
