Buttons disappearing.....

Post by geoberni »

The users Function Buttons to 'Delete' a post seem to have a mind of their own.

See this topic viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68618

I advised about deleting one's own duplicate posts and MacQuigley replied that he hadn't got a X Button. Lo and behold, my X Button has vanished too !!!

See below, I'm ONLINE but there's no X Button showing.

But this new Post I've just made has got one (at least for the time being.....)

Just had a thought, the Admins haven't by any chance got the Forum set up so that a post can't be deleted after there's been a subsequent post made....

By the way, the buttons seem to have vanished from Private Messages.

GB: You seem to be correct. You can delete a post you have made EITHER until another contributor adds to the thread OR until other users read your post (the forum software seems able to recognise an unread post).

You're beginning to make me feel redundant ;)

So I'm right then...? (Luck more than judgement... and 20-odd years as a user of Transport for London's rather off-beat software! )

So it's possible to Edit, and thus remove everything, but not delete it completely.... probably made some sense to someone originally .. but I'm not sure what value it adds.
Oh well, at least we know :)

They're still there Brian, just shrunk in the wash so you can't read them. :D If you hover over them with a mouse, it you''re on a computer rather than a 'device' then the function is displayed.

I suppose to be accurate I should have said the icons on the buttons have disappeared.

Still usable, but a bit awkward for my fat fingers on an iPad 😊

Possibly editing is for a limited time, or until there is a reply. It’s common on some forums to prevent people trolling by changing the meaning of their original post.
