Cheap Insurance?
Okay, another challenge for you friendly guys!
I've got a Peugeot 205F-reg I'm trying to insure very cheaply, but can't get any quotes for it, even third party fire and theft, under £250. The car's only worth £250 and I don't fancy paying much more than that per year for insurance, it doesn't seem worth it.
I've tried: Footman James, Aon, Tesco Value, Admiral, Elephant, Swift, More Than, and a couple I can't remember the names of, but everywhere's charging me over three hundred pounds (I do, unfortunately, have a claim I made on the Morris within the last three years, and this Pug will be kept on the street overnight).
So, anyone got any ideas? Onne said that he managed to find one quote for £175, but couldn't remember who with, so I'm kind of stuck.

Last year my father in law gave us his old car - a P reg Chrysler Neon.
I looked into keeping our old "familly" car, G reg VW Golf , as a second car for me to replace an anceint MKII Granada that would need work for next MOT.
Even third party, fire & theft, FULL no claims, no accidents, clean licence, parked in drive, myself & wife both early retired so no commuting, my wife 50 and me 49, rural area etc the cheapest I could get cover for was just under £300.
In the end I scrapped the Golf, sold Granada for £50 and bought a Minor !
I reckon £250 isn't too bad a quote for someone who has a claim and the car parked on road.

For a normal policy, I got a pretty good deal through Direct Choice (Google them, I can't remember if they're com or co.uk). But you might, just might, get the 205 on a classic policy - I'm paying a reasonably fair premium through Peter Best (whom I strongly recommend based on personal experience anyway) on my late 80s classic/ runabout.

Well, after a bit of a kerfuffle with the internet and a few more hours of searching, I've finally found insurance - third party only, but the car was bought so damn cheap I won't be too worried if anyhting happens, I'm more concerned about being sued for damages should the worst happen and I hit someone!
Anyway, in the end, being honest and all that, the cheapest I could get was £300. Not too bad, I would have liked cheaper but that would be impossible with one claim already and only one year's NCB. Which I must get proof of, of course. So it's back to ringing Aon in the morning and asking nicely for a piece of paper that says that my last claim was in April 2005 - yet another tea break used up in a phone call, I suppose.

I do hope you realise you can (generally) only use your NCB once. If that NCB is on your Minor and you are continuing to insure it, you cannot use it on the Peugeot too. However some companies might do things differently so it's worth checking.

I would use the NCB on whichever is the more expensive to insure.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

These guys insure both my Minors, for 42.50 each!
Unlimited mileage and fully comp with agreed value of three grand.
They do other cars obviously too, newer ones like.
Couldn't beleive the quote especially when the club insurance quote came thru at 112 pounds! I can get a third minor to insure for the price of one now!
Give em a sho, big thumbs up from me.
