See if you can get a copy of OSX, its much better than the old 9.2.
Like night and day. Just plug it in and it works straight away on a router.

From memory of 9.2, try clicking the Apple in the top left of the screen from the drop down menu you should see settings and langauge. I'll fire up 9.2 when I'm at home and see if i CAN HELP YOU.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

many thanks chikenjohn! I would like to avoid upgrading the OS just to use broadband.. my friend speaks fluent german but some of the network settings had words he couldnt translate.. so havnt been been able to work out what they are. it did mention a PPP server, but the livebox I think is a dhcp server so im wondering if what I am trying to do is even possible :(

Is this any help?

It's been quite a few years since I used OS9 but I'm sure it supported DHCP.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

If the Mac has a network socket (most of them do) then it should be possible to connect to broadband via a router/modem.
cheers
