Takes me back, my dad had a white T-reg 2 door Chevette saloon, awful looking thing but went for years without a hiccup - sailed through the MoT every year!
(Occasionally needed to bang the starter motor with a spanner/hammer/scaffolding pole...)

Was that a common shovit problem, I seem to remember my brov's one had the same problem and never ever needed work for the mot!

The problem was a missing rubber boot from somewhere on the starter motor from what i remember - i'm sure it cost 69p to resolve the problem!

there were some horrendus cars on there i did not realise they put those bumpers on the etype i suppose that lead to the rubber bumper mgb.
