Last year i noticed a few splits in the paint on my beetle bonnet and this week i managed to find time to have a closer look, the paint job was a custom metalic colour done before i got it which looked great for a while, after about an hour i managed to use a metal filler spreader to peel off the paint like it was a vinyl sticker, i am guessing the whole car will be as bad, the only good thing is i am quite happy with a rat look car.

Re: poor paint job
Are you sure it hasn't been vinyl wrapped?

It acts like paint when you bend it, and if i rip it there is a layer of primer, maybe its just a bad paint to primer, at leats there is no rust.

Has to be a wrap,
One cannot peel a whole bonnet of paint.
The primer left behind will soak up water now though so it would be sensible to paint it at your earliest opportunity.

Here are pictures of the paint that peeled off, you can see where it was sanded before it peeled, i can see why you say its a wrap as no paint should fall away this easy.
