It probably was the learner getting the hang of driving a car! We've all been there. :D

As I understand it, the car was recovered after only about 30 minutes, hardly worse for wear for its ordeal. Nice to have a good news end to a story for a change!

An excellent ending! Actually, it probably did the car some good - I always think mine runs better after it's had a damn good thrashing
Mine gets driven like that much of the time

"West Yorkshire Police said it was stolen at 07:30 GMT in Ravenscliffe and found abandoned 45 minutes later on land off Harrogate Road. No arrests have been made."
So the Moggie got away from them at the lights! How humiliating for the police!

That has added a few quid to the value of the Minor.

I would be interested in the spec of the stolen Minor as it was able to change direction at those lights when avoiding the other cars. Most minors would have rolled over.
In some ways you could say it was well driven. :o

Yes, whipped around pretty quickly. Had a bit of body roll though.

How many of us have tried out and know the limit of handling on our own cars (in a safe environment of course)? Might be useful to know.

You've only got to take a corner a little too fast to feel the vehicle lean and realise much more would result in a roll, (especially in the dry), without actually having to make it happen, to find out! :D

As somebody once said: "You can only find out where the true limits are by exceeding them"

This is exactly the approach adopted by Marc Marquez in the free practice sessions leading up to each MotoGP race - eek! :o

Many years ago when I was a teenager I was a passenger in a 1951 series 1 Land Rover when we discovered its tipping point going round a sharp bend way too fast. The nearside wheels must have been a couple of feet off the ground but somehow the driver managed to correct it, we were a split second from tipping right over and came back to earth with a big thud.

I never went in a car with him again after that little episode.

If I could catch a stolen frog eyed sprite in my panda after going sideways round the Robin Hood roundabout on the A3 I could have caught this one.

Many years ago I went round a bend a bit fast and the back wheels bounced sideways across the ground a fair bit - and that was in an 803cc car! Always been more careful since.
