Not too happy to see hornets getting this far north.
Hardly any wasps this year, last year they were eating me out of sugar...not experienced hornets, but regular wasps very friendly if treated with respect!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Hornets kill wasps and bees, they are really powerful insects.
I read somewhere that Japanese honey bees have learned to swarm around lone hornets and beat their wings rapidly. This lifts the temperature and basically cooks the hornet alive. Isn’t nature amazing.
