National Rally 2012
With the national only a few months away plans are progressing well. We have had a few kind souls who have offered to help out on the day, thanks to you, but the more the merrier. After several years of being left at the back of the field this year we have been asked to display our cars by the arena. To ensure we get enough space to display our cars when you register make sure to tick the box for either custom or modified, the entry form can be downloaded from (http://mmoc.org.uk/Images/National2012/form.pdf)
Alongside our high profile parking area we have been given a time slot in the arena to drive our cars around and talk about them over the PA system. If any one would like to drive their car around the arena please drop me a line, it would be great to get a mix of both custom and modified to show off in the arena.
The final pieces of the jigsaw is the Judging for those of you who have decided not to enter the concour class ( no that is not a mistake on the entry form ). We have 3 people who have kindly agreed to judge :
Martin Hassam the winner of the custom class from last year
Jonathon from JLh Morris minors
John Beardmore
They will be judging in the following Categories..
Custom
overall (trophy)
engine bay (rosette)
interior (rosette)
overall engineering (rosette)
paint job (rosette)
rat look (rosette)
Modified
overall (trophy)
engine bay (rosette)
interior (rosette)
overall engineering (rosette)
paint job (rosette)
On top of the judging by Martin we will be asking other show goers to judge which is their favourite car in each class i.e. Custom / Modified with a trophy going to the winner.

Re: National Rally 2012
I think so, but was finished off by mick sinclair, originally going under a saloon with a manual box, then traveller used and auto box .
Ray Wickers built it, Mick finished it!
The chassis was built for my old chopped 2-door by Jon Webster for Dan Boone, Ray threw away the 2-door body and put the traveller body on it, then sold it to Mick....

Re: National Rally 2012
i fail to see what you have modified
on closer inspection i see that you have used a later grill on a split screen
see you on sunday.. would you like to have a drive around the main arena to show it off to everyone?

Re: National Rally 2012
We always liked the Chris Nash Minor and it was on the cover of one of the first Street machines we bought. When Dan owned it (with tube chassis) we went to London from Leeds to look at it. The deal was to swop it for Robin`s pickup. We decided against swopping a finished running Minor for a part built one.
I remember feeling quite sad when the body was scrapped, but I think it was mentioned that it would be easier to build another body than sort the original.
Look forward to seeing it on Sunday.

Re: National Rally 2012
I'd be happy to drive it around. I'm probably going to transport it up there as I haven't got faith in it yet, or driven it enough to know it! but will give it a blast around the local area . then park it in the standard area just to see if anyone notices any difference . I've got photos of chris's minor at the pod always loved it's look.
I look forward to meeting everyone

Re: National Rally 2012
just back from this years national and it was a blast a super weekend had by all (the custom guys from Scotland )
just want to say a big thanks the Charlie for organising the custom/modified classes
as it all went very well with all the cars parked up with little hassle and in the right rows for a change and some very nice trophies one of which went north back home with us (not me but all most )
well done to all the winners ...
It was an excellent turnout in both classes lets see it bigger next year ..
also
thanks also to Andrew Stone for the opportunity to put the custom /modified cars in a more prominent place
Rather than at the back of the rally field .
The other thanks goes to who ever booked the showers they where sooooooo good .....Hope you get them for next year..

Re: National Rally 2012
what mark is too modest to say is that without his help both before and during the weekend it would not have gone half as smoothly as it did.badobsession wrote:just want to say a big thanks the Charlie for organising the custom/modified classes
if anyone has i would love to see some and be allowed to use them for the first newsletter I am trying to put together..irmscher wrote:Has anyone got any pictures they took of the modified class cars at the show ???
