A little update and somewhat a diversion, being building a solar furnace heater out of beer cans, and heating the workshop for free

Can you give us a bit more detail about the operating principle of your heat exchanger please.

Thanks
Phil

Simple, it’s a passive heater, two plenum, connected by cans. Cold air enter low chamber, heats up and rises to top chamber, then extracted out, you can use a passive movement, but I intend to use a in line 12v motor fan powered by a small PV panel. As a rule, what goes in, ambient temp of room, should double, thats the physics, need to hand on the south facing roof next week to try. Look them up, this is tiny, some are the size of a whole house. Reckon that, my wood stove and the PV electric panels and batteries, should heat and light my unit for nothing. Thank a for interest.

I saw something similar that uses two old central heating radiators, one mounted outside on a south facing wall and the other slightly higher on the inside of the same wall. the outer one heats up with the sun on it and the heated water inside rises and flows into the the internal radiator.

I dont think a pump is required as it works on the thermo syphon principle, a bit like my old Austin 7 cooling system with no pump.

Update, after being made redundant and enjoying nearly four months off, I’ve got a new job and now ploughed back into the build. All the floor is now complete, thankgod. Taken a lot of energy, now inner front wings, pedal box, rear out side quarters and the wheel arches replaced. Going to order the rotisserie now most the work is done. The main bit to sort is the remainder of the roll cage, bracing at the rear towers and the seat box section, again all in zinged and drilled and dimpled. A few photos.

Update, after pretty much finishing the floors, inner and outer sill, I’ve turned to dealing with the rear of the tub, just ordered two full inner arches, wing hole sections, inner boot section and will redo remain of flooring with profiled zintec. When this is complete I will be able to attach the rotary jig and wheel about the shop, or outside on a good day. Issues, seats don’t fit! Location for the pedal box and CNC metal work to get ordered! Sort photos later, loving the warmer weather too!

A bit of an update, not only have I been excepted as a member of Goodwood I’ve been allowed to race my minor in the historic Italian modified classic class, really pleased as this will open a new exposure to the Italian engines in other Marques of cars. Off to see Guy next week, with engine and few gifts for his well being, hoping to have a good day of intrigue and creative banter, picking up 356 chassis on route home for next project, a superlicht 1948 Romtesch Porsche, can’t wait to start that.

My plans were to build as a superlicht over a timber buck, in Aluminum, ala Chris Runge, already have a chassis, beam and 356 running gear, will use a 356 1200 4 cam motor, have the long block, and run solex carbs, Porsche central fan, that changes will be mid engine build and a shortened chassis, Wb will be 2100 instead of very 2400. This build shows the car, although it all GRP, https://www.porscheforum.nl/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=35209

only 1/4 mile and a few hill climb, but it will only be used as historic events.
