excellent site asgard, great parts section I like it. you could go broke just brake parts window gazing, and who said blokes don't do shopping. Ive never spent so long over a pair of shoes.
talking of parts, just take a look at my rear hub, one of the wheel bolt studs had sheared off, anyone replaced one of those before?
Image
and don't the rear shoes look dinky compared to the front ones, no chance of mixing those up

Studs aren't difficult to replace, in simple terms, whack the old one out with a big hammer, whack the new one in with a big hammer.

TBH, with one stud snapped that would make me worried about the condition of the others, as you seem to be doing a belt and braces job here I'd certainly consider replacing ALL the studs

Thanks Dan, replace all 8, thats quite a good idea, while I've got it all apart. the bearings rumble so I'm replacing them too. The picture shows the half shaft sliding out, thats one big nut holding on the hub, don't think Ive got a spanner that large! any advice on what size this monster is?

I think it is 1 7/8af but others will verify! Hope you don't join the 'hit it with a chisel' school of engineering!

I may have a socket that big if you need one. I'll have a check. If not, I'm sure I'll have one at work (Rolls Royce Cars).
I'm over in Chichester if you need to borrow one.

If you mean 24 or 26mm, I think you are way too small!

Halfords do a socket spanner 1 14/16ths, its the largest in their range, £13 a go for a two nuts its a dodgy investment.

The flitch panel area on the nearside just after rust treatement. I'm trying my best to ensure the surface rust that was on here won't return

Remember that primer attracts moisture, so if the shell is left for some time in a garage (which may cause it to swea )t, then ideally it should be removed prior to re primering and top coat, otherwise you will find surface rust beneath the initial primer.
So have you repaired the chassis without the shell to use as a jig ? and vice versa. Its always best practice to have the two together to check for distortion and positioning of the relevant critical datum points.

the chassis is at the blasters at the moment, blast treat of Arundel, they warned me they were busy, once that comes back the whole lot goes off to the engineers for weld repair, as you say Jonathon they'll need the cab for cross ref of parts locations,
