Dave ,
Glad you were able to blow away a few of Alice's cobwebs whilst "travelling for your daily exercise ".It was a super day weather wise.
Still need a few parts for my pal's Jag to finish off the refurbishment of the bits but 75% of it done. It's certainly kept me sane over the last couple of months. My wife has got use to the cry " I'm off to the shed ".

Excellent! That's good to see. Also nice to know that a tiny bit of my long-since-scrapped first Minor lives on in your pickup - the little switch under the dashboard which turns off/on the speedo light!

Looks like it was recovered from the edge of a building site? Was the farmers field / hedge part of a development?
Always interesting to see images like this, the start of a restoration journey, it makes you appreciate just what has had to be done to return a vehicle to roadworthy condition.
Too often in magazine articles etc. all you see is pictures that start halfway through it, which doesn't tell the whole story.
Any more images of the recovery?
Best wishes,
Mike.

That's right, I'll get a picture of it in position tomorrow, forgotten all about your kindness sending me that part, as you say, it's still motoring around, part of the bigger success story.

I think the original posts of the recovery are still viewable on pickup restoration part one 2009

Thanks David, interesting stuff. She really was in quite a state, which makes what you have achieved even more impressive.
Best wishes,
Mike.

here it is, under Alice's dash, still fulfilling the role it was intended for.

I went for a drive in Alice this morning on our first fill of 05 fuel with the usual plomb additive, she drove fine but there was a shimmey on the steering wheel, the motor ran smoothly though, and when I got home, I checked the oil in the gearbox placing my hand on the footwell floor passenger side, felt warm to the touch. It is directly over the exhaust though, I need to do some checks before I taker Alice out on the road again.

Thanks for posting that pic, David, it's good to see it 'in action', small though it is.

in between rain storms I managed a full day on some brake maintenance, noticed that my local garage doing a brake test and adjust, must have used a windy gun when they spun the lug nuts on, they cross threaded two studs on the rear right wheel, that will all have to come off now and replacement long 42mm studs, AIa have two spare byt what threads are they so I can pass them safely through a my imperial tap and di set?

The threads of the two damaged wheel studs are 3/8" UNF (not 3/8" NF)
I would recommend a good quality die nut instead of a split or solid die.
Good luck.
