Pickup restoration part three

Now for a nice clean, dry electrical job. The rear lights stripped down, the wires from the loom that connet into the back of the light units have no connectors fitted.[frame][/frame]

how on earth do I connect the wires to the light unit, and were do I connect earth come to think of it. Looking at this picture has made me wonder if those brass coloured hoops are for the bullet connectors, the one on the left for the earth maybe.

looking at the rubber boots that the lights mount in, there are three wire holes for the stop light and two for the indicator above it, and of course there are five light wires either side, so thats adding up, the loom is issued with bare wires so you can pass them through the rubber boot holes.so only the two wires to the flasher need to pass up through the hole in the floor.

aside from the black body earth wires, the loom that comes back from the front of the pickup and connects to the seperate rear portion has four bullet connected wires, but the bullet connected wires at the begining of the rear portion have seven.
I would guess the red wires, for example, will join together in a bullet block.

The bare wire is pushed through the split bullet and folded back it is then pushed into the connector on the lamp trapping the cable between the bullet and the holder.

I would have expected them to come with the lamp fitting

I use "hollow bullets " for the lights and the standard bullet connectors for straight connections.They are available in
single, double, triple and five variety, depending on the application.Auto Electrical Supplies would supply, no connection/ satisfied customer.

It is a "cotton reel" exhaust mount

ANG classic car parts, yes they're Halogen, will that cause me any headaches?

I don't think so, but they look like just what I'm looking for. Think I'll order a pair.

very droll louise, they'll get me one way or the other, the headlamp buckets come without securing nuts, I'm getting used to being supplied without everything needed to fit the part[frame][/frame]

Ive duplicated this section on the electrical section,casting my net wider in the hope of advice. The loom has four wires coming from the front, these join up with 7wires, sorry if i'm repeating myself.[frame][/frame]

so a quick scoop into the scrap bin produced the old scabby looms, these can only be partly believed as the older one is from the pickup relic and has half rotted away, the newer one has had wires salvaged by the previous owner, its a bit like post mortem work this.[frame][/frame]

the area with the most similar wire colours and numbers like the area I'm working on is this, and there are only single and double bullet connectors in use here.[frame][/frame]

Great progress David, its coming together really well

The three red wires connect into one double connector with the red wire from the front, these should be be for the 2 tail light and number plate as they all work together. Its hard to make out the colours but I think its green and red and green and white, they are the indicators and and fit into each other in single bullet connectors and lastly you have stop/brake lights, 2 wires from the back into a double connector with the other one from the front.

The black one with the eyelet is obviously earth and can be bolted any were convenient, perhaps were the chasiss bolts to the body?

Thanks Dave Great advice there. Three pin bullet connector on order, as you say its coming together now. Probably be ready to roll by the end of the year.

A double connector is fine as you have 4 spaces and 4 wires, usually the 3 space connectors are insulated from each other and used in the headlights
