Yes, seen that 54, 4 door in black on gumtree. And I also said to myself, 'you don't need another minor'. Although it does seem good for £700.

I really like the age pattina on that, it'd be a shame to repaint it and spoil the old look

Quick question... what is the big front spot light for? I have an old picture of my mog in the 70's and it had one fitted too. I was thinking of fitting one back on for nostalgia's sake.

Back to the door handles (sorry!)
Attached pic is from page 88 of the Paul Skilleter book (original version) showing the interior rear view of the new Series 2 4 door. This is also shown in the earlier design for the seats. Door handles very clearly visible so hope that helps settle your friendly difference of opinion????
Looks like a really nice project though - good luck...

cheers guys and your honour i rest my case
It is a good laugh arguing the point though...
If it got to the point where that was all that needed attending to we'd be flying.
PS has anyone also noticed that the series 2 inside rear door handles are just the same as the front ones not like on the 1000s where they are different?
Actually better stop now...........

Just a little inspiration David,
My 1954 Series II engine bay when I used to show her
Notice the original 'DELUXE' paper body sticker on the bulkhead
)
PS She's been in a Carcoon since last showing her at the NEC in 2000

Some more parts stripped out for sorting[frame]

I was very pleased the semaphores worked, turned out the battery I was using didnt have enough power to lift them! I had a spare semaphore lens and chrome finisher to replace the missing one. The door trims are vinyl and scrubbed up quite well with some mr muscle
These are the before cleaning pictures. They are a bit faded but a wee drop of oxblood polish seems to be helping restore the colour. The rear handles are leather and they have turned out great. I took off the chrome trims and they are also shining now, its missing one off the passenger side front door if anyone has a spare?
I really should be working on the 61 car as the body is nearly finished and this one isnt even started!!

The rest of the seats are now housed in my loft ready for some serious work to them! Hopefully most of the original stuff can be saved. I bought a 2 door red leather back seat at Scones and Im going use this to repair the rat eaten back seat.

Today I stripped off the air cleaner, quite a fiddly job on a series 11, I guess people don't check the oil in the dash pot too often on 803's. I had thought the carb was seized but luckily it was only the cables that were stuck and the carb seems in good condition. I removed a couple of other things and applied lots more oil to the nuts and bolts under the bonnet!
I only started this because I was borrowing the regulator to try on the lowlight as its one has gone faulty but the 54 seems to be duff as well. Time to order a new one I think

Passenger side back wing removed today, only one bolt was difficult and had to be drilled out. No nasty surprises underneath thankfully! Pics later

Wooden boot floor boards removed today. Unfortunately the t-bar that holds them is damaged - someone rather hefty must have stood on it at some time and its ripped away from each side of the boot surround. It will take a bit of straightening so I may remove it completely and sort it in the vice.
Petrol tank also now removed, I was amazed that the pipe unscrewed no problem (brass ) and even the sender wasnt seized, surprising as the bottom of the tank is completely rusted away
I never have seen the inside of a tank before, very interesting to see the pick up pipe has a filter on the end and the baffles inside to stop the petrol moving about too much.

Like this, this tank looked O.K. but the top was rusted through and the filter completely blocked.
