Rear lights and number plate light wires are now in place. Pretty easy job, that ESM wiring loom is easy to put in plase. At least in the back part of the car.. :) Rear light gaskets should arrive today so I can put them in place and connect the wires. When the rear lights are in place, i have to take a closer look of that left wing.. I can't put that left "hockey stick" in place when holes in the front panel and front wing do not line up.. :(

I wouldn't go drilling holes just yet. Getting the hockeys sticks on mine (and i believe most others) was a right pig of a job, but with a bit of brute force they lined up and look good now.

Some pics again..

That top crome bar did fit quite easily, and so did the right hockey stick. But the left one is giving me a headache.. As you can see, holes in the front panel and in the left wing doesn't quite match. With some brute force I was able to get that front wing a bit lower, but there's still some gap: [frame]Image[/frame]

Thanks! I've been working with the wires a couple of days now, sidelights and interior light are now in place. Sidelights crome parts are so worn out and shabby, that we may have to buy new ones..

Dashboard is next in line, I started to clean up the speedometer yesterday. It's in quite good condition, it needs some polishing and new cover glass.

Few pics again, in random order. :)
Here's the carburetor disassembled and cleaned, not the original one but similar.[frame]Image

We installed the radiator yesterday, it just need hoses. The "engine department" is starting to look quite good. :)[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
We managed to put that left hockey stick in place, a terrific job for a single part, but now it's in place. We were able to lower the left wing for a few millimeters.. And while we were at it, we put the front bumber in place too.. :)[frame]Image[/frame]

About semaphores.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these early MM-models came out of the factory with semaphore trafficators? Our Minor doesn't have those, apparently those have been replaced afterwards in Finland. Our car is fitted with flasher-units which have two bulbs inside (15 W and 3 W). The problem is that another flasher cover is so worn out that it needs to be replaced.. But where can I find one, ESM or G.S. Jones doesn't have those for sale, meaby E-bay..?

MMs did come with trafficators, yes, but as I recall some export models were modified to have flashing indicators, per local statutes. If you want the trafficators, they're not hard to wire in, but they can be difficult to find. About the cover -- do you mean a plastic or glass cover, over the bulb, or the rubber boot that fits over the unit from behind?

I did some research today and that's the case in those Minors which were imported in Finland. Trafficators did not pass the registration inspection and MOT. There were some cases were the trafficator did froze and stuck during the winter. And those can not be retrofitted or the car will not pass the MOT. :(

The base looks like this:[frame]Image[/frame]The upper is for 15 w bulb and the lower is for 3 w bulb

The cover is made out of plastic:[frame]Image[/frame]It seems that there is no rubber gasket between the cover and and base. That plastic cover is hard to find, I quess we just have to try and fix that old one.

Hi! After a couple of days, here's some update again. First of all, front grill and wheel bands got a new paint. Color looks white in the pics, but it's actually cream(ish). Colour looks quite nice. :)[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

[frame]We made the floor pan out of thick plywood. We didn't use the T-frame to support that floor pan, instead there's few supporting blocks and that leading edge is U-shaped metal channel. Floor pan is quite solid like that. And we didn't have any T-frame available, which we could have used:

Today I started working with dashboard and stuff. Those knobs went in quite easily, but that pull-start cable connector was really s***** one.. Old cable was frayed and moved very poorly.. And still I didn't manage to put it together tonight, it's going to be tomorrow's task. Great..[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
The focus is a bit poor, but the connector is lying back of that support..

A lot of pics this time.. :)
The front is almost ready, lights are in place (only the sidelights bulbs are missing). [frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]In the engine room the hoses and wires are in place. Fuel pump and fuel lines too. Engine does not have any oil yet.[frame]Image[/frame]Pics are in funny order, but I fixed the steering colum today. Wires and some tidying. [frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]And last, good wire cutters and multi-meter takes you far. :) And a hammer and a bottle of CRC 5-56 will do the rest. :) [frame]Image[/frame]

That flat portion on the trailing edge of the radiator is a shelf -- bend it down and it's handy for holding small tools, like sockets. :wink:

The floor mat is in place. Quite thick, kind of fiber mat. It should give some soundproofing and it's easy to keep clean. And it looks quite good too. We will put some rubber mat's etc too. [frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Windscreen and rear screen are also in place, i will put some photos tomorrow. Although much remains to be done, the car starts to look like a proper car. :) And that feels great! :)

And finally a little "puzzle". I booked myself a new project for next winter.
Because it's not Minor, I will give you only the car number plate. Who will recognize it first? :) Five-point hint, it's a Morris.. :)

It's actually my wife's car, that needs some restoring. Not much, brakes, suspension and perhaps some engine maintenance..

Trafficator covers.

Anyone else think they look like Austin Taxi Cab trafficator ears , ( or poss Wolsley police car ) . So wont be listed in a UK
moggie specialists but might be available from other Lucas suppliers .

The carpet is actually a basic interior carpet from a local hardware store. I think it's intented to be used in stairs etc, so it's easy to bend around corners and it's easy to cut. We used a thicker contact glue in the base and more liquid in the carpet, so that it was easier to put in place. The seams were easy to smooth with hammer or rubber mallet. My father-in-law used to be a builder, so he is quite handy with these things.. :)

And yes, it's a Mini. :)

Lights are working now, and almost all the electrical work is done. Only the dipswich is missing, but it should arrive tomorrow. I had to rewire the side flashers, old wires were so worn out that when I connected the flashers, the battery went dead. And same with the interior light. I also cleaned the fusebox, it was so corroded that the current did not properly passed through. 12 volts went in but only 10,5 volts came out. No wonder that the 12-volts bulbs were not working.. :)

My vacation is about to end, but we made some good progress. We are still in our original schedule, this car should be ready this year. :)
