Spent a long time the last two days in the garage alone.....going a bit mad.
You will probably only need to replace the bottom half..

You would have to cut the lower outer wing away to replace the entire panel, it looks like you just need to replace the bottom edge, fold up piece of steel and use this, you should be able to trim the bottom off with an angle grinder.

If I may offer a little advice with your welding. Looks like you have moved a little quick with the power set to low. This has given you very skinny tall beads with little penatration. An easier way for you to achieve really nice results would be to make a spot weld, turn the torch in a small cicle as you do so and then release the trigger, just before the red glow faids overlap the first spot with another. if you continue in that manner you will end up with a good fairly flat weld that looks a performs as a weld should.

I admire your bravery and wish you the best of luck with your deadline.

MOT achieved! Car on the road, no time for painting before the wedding but hey ho![frame]Image[/frame]

Got a funny almost grinding/rubbing sound on it, only when freewheeling in gear and turning one way or the other, is this a wheel bearing and is it a hard job to do yourself could someone describe the procedure?

Well done! I guess you have been working at it all hours :o

Rubbing noise sounds like a bearing, is it sometimes more noticeable when the car is leaning to one side? Easy enough to change, if you dont have a hub puller you can remove the hub with 2 claw hammers.

Edd,

When you hit the engine mounting alignment problem I actually drafted you a message which can be summarised as "what a shame, forget the car, which can't possibly be done in time, now get on with the wedding which is far more important." I didn't send it because I decided the last thing you needed was pompous philosophy from an old bloke. Totally humbled by your amazing achievements. Well done!

Thank you for your honesty Mark!

As you can see the car is far from done but it did it's job, thanks hugely to this club

The missus will never let you!

Finish any work you want to tidy up on the saloon, then butter her up by painting it her favourite shade of green, give her a set of keys and tell her it's as much her car as yours (don't forget to fit rear seat belts and the baby seat).............
Then she might just be persuaded.........
Best wishes,
Mike.

Morris in his current state, having removed the bonnet and replaced it with another one! I actually found one with all the gear for the stay, the first time since I've owned it I haven't had to use a broom.....[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
