The heart is back in the Beast!

Post by bjbrownie »

Landmark day today-after work myself and a mate put the engine back into Martha, easier than I thought and the dusty space that the engine occupied for a quite a few months has now been taken over temporarily by the gearbox! Epic day, and getting closer to hearing it run once again-any tips/hints to use when putting the flywheel/clutch/gearbox back in? Ordering a clutch linkage and new pedal from ESM shortly. 8)[frame]Image[/frame]

Oh dear, my hint is a bit late. That is that it's much easier to do before you fit the engine...

And what might that tip have been Neil? Don't tell me that something really really important had to be done before putting the engine back in!!

I think he meant the flywheel/clutch/gearbox, especially if you have a hoist or engine crane it's much easier to put everything in already assembled. (Or at least flywheel and clutch if you don't)

I'm not worried about that, I don't have a hoist (can get one) but I took the gearbox & clutch/flywheel out with the engine in situ and I didn't find it particularly difficult so I'll put it back in the same way. Must get that new clutch pedal in first though I think...... 8)

I mean it is much easier to fit the gearbox out of the car before fitting the engine and then putting them in as one unit.

All done, wasn't bad at all-the aluminium gearbox made things a lot easier weight wise, and I left the gearbox crossmember on-careful use of the trolley jack and a scissor jack persuaded the box in. I might have some fun when it comes to putting the pedals back in tho'.......[frame]Image[/frame]
