I have rescued this car from certain death. In the garage for 40 years so had minimum corrosion, we put a battery on and a small bottle of fuel (fuel tank corroded) and she fired up and ran beautifully. So I purchased her for £950.00 from e bay.
It was not my intention to do a full restoration as I just wanted to get her back on the road with the minimum cost.
i. Shot blast wheels & paint , new tyres: £280.00
ii.Brakes, cylinders, drums, master cylinder, shoes: £320.00
iii. Fuel tank: (expensive) £200.00
iv. Bullet connectors, bulbs, headlights etc: £80.00
v. Carpets: £67.00
vi.Sundries, service materials, oil etc: £80.00
Total: £1,027.00
Total investment to date: £1,997.00
She feels safe and drives beautifully excluding the labour (of love gratis) is she worth 2k? As a relay runner passes on the baton maybe ill sell her to the next enthusiast to step it up to stage 2 (bodywork , respray etc if I tire of her.
As a man with very limited mechanical knowledge this has been a fun journey, my son (21) helped me and now has a sound (ish) knowledge of how a car actually works. I recommend this hobby to all it really is fun. and with Bul- Motif (spares company) nearly everything is available.
Ill keep you informed of any pit falls or problems as I drive her around on the road. I achieved what I set out to do and rescued her from death. She is 60 years old!
