Just took the girlfriend out 1st time in it. She was abit scared of corners. The headlights wernt working aswell. Had to stop to sort. The wire had come off the dip switch (Probably kicked off by me) put it back on and we had lights. Stopped in a car park to let the girlfriend drive. She managed 5 ft before bailing out. Don't think I needed to put her on the insurance. All good the cars running well tho.

Dam the new fuel sender dosent work properly. The contacts lose contact above half a tank. ESM are sending me a new one hopefully tomorrow.

Do I need to send the old one back? He wasn't clear on the phone.

New fuel sender fitted. Only says half a tank tho. I'm not to worried as they are obviously poor quality. Might try running a earth wire to one of the screws. Tho its earthed through the tank well enough.

Iv also replaced the engine mounts. Esm engine mounts don't seem that hard. Dont have any vibrations from the engine and it felt nice to drive.

Changed the air filter aswell. Iv also screwed the boot floor down. Had to add some extra screws where the old ones were snapped off. But that's not a problem. Iv got my new pump points ready to fit into my old pump as a spare. Tho my new pump should last forever. Whilst working on the engine I noticed that I should really change this head gasket. Oils leaking from the front corner which iv know about but iv just noticed water streaking from the drivers side. As the new copper ones appear to be poor quality iv ordered a bga ch5311 one. Which I hear are good enough for the moggies. Slowly ticking off the jobs. Tho its mainly cleaning left to do.

Fitted the powerspark points condenser cap and arm to my old dizzy. It fired up and ran nice and sweet so iv put the electronic ignition back on and will carry the old one as a spare. Iv also got another cap for the electronic ignition but feel this is poor quality aswell. I doubt everything will go wrong at once. Hopefully not at all!

I think I ordered and paid for at least two head gaskets before I found one I wanted to fit.

Some are just wrong others are just bad quality Steve.

Iv got a new copper esm one here but ordered that one as its one of the ones to get. I always thought copper was best but apparently not for moggies.

They re indeed. My 57 four door (Palace Bear, Have I mentioned it is Clarendon Grey?) is quite happy with its normal 1957 brakes and 948 engine. Does'nt like the combination of hills and 4 passengers much tho! Its less about the technology and more about adapting driving to it. You simply cannot expect the minor in its un modified state to accelerate, climb and brake like a modern eurobox. Drive it as if you have always driven a car designed pre and post war (without synchro on 1st gear) and it, and you will be happy as a pig in brown stuff!

Head gasket replaced today. Hopefully it won't leak oil now. Looks like the oil was leaking on the gasket itself, like between the copper and other layer. I had this on corsa earlier in the year that was a stop gap car. I also replaced the hose bypass again but this time with heater hose whilst it was apart. Just took it for a spin round the village and will re torque the bolts tomorrow.

Iv done about 500miles now. Probably just over. Iv just given it another oil change as it got quite dirty quickly. Think it will be ok now tho. It was for peace of mind really but it was nice to flush it through. Iv also adjusted the brakes now theyve bedded in more. I whipped the drums off aswell and cleaned the dust out. I also greased up the trunnions and fitted some caps to the nipples.

Iv got another classic tour a week on thursday to go to at Axbridge.
