Errr - it sounds like a very serious resto project!
I'd agree with that. To be honest if you are on a budget then a 2 door is far more sensible as there are less opportunities for corrosion to take hold.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

That must be a B reg? I had a metro as my second car, nice run about. Just keep an eye out for stone chips around the front end and around the rear wheel arches and touch them up. It will keep the rust at bay for a bit longer.

The insurance will likely have gone up because a Metro is not a 'classic car'. They are ok - but rotten with rust and the suspension can be a nightmare.

Its over 15 years old so most companies will cover as a classic. But yes, I know the pain of an insurance claim .

I'm 24 and have a (fraudulent) claim ongoing at the moment. My policy which should have cost £250 odd for the modern rocketed up to nearly £900 as whilst its going through my ins co have taken away my (2 years) ncb and a claim outstanding.

Try ringing HIC!

Morrie suspension is easy and straightforward - Metro suspension = nightmare!

They look great if the garage pumping the suspension up forgets to detach the pipe! Mine looked like it was on stilts for a few weeks before it settled.

I had a Austin1300 with hydro suspension. After the "top up" it bounced along until it settled. V. odd on corners :D

Funny you should say that, I've been working on my moggy since May and everytime I see a guy with a beard and a pipe I think... wow how cool! :)

Great picture - nice to put a face to the name. Pity the car was stolen etc - did you follow up at the auction etc to see what price it fetched ?
