Stolen Morris Van

Post by gasscack »

I have had my Morris van stolen from Kingswood Bristol. It was taken between 930pm 25/10/09 and 805am 26/10/09, it is a 1970 morris badged van it is damask red, has a small dent in both of the rear doors, has custom made wing mirrors on the driver and passenger doors, there are no holes in the top of the wings apart from that it is all original including an original rubber floor matt. The van was brought by my grandad new in 1970.
Would very much like to find it. If anyone sees or hears about one matching my van please lt me know.

Sorry to hear that - hope it turns up soon.
If only it had a secret fuel pump switch fitted......... it would be untidily abandoned 100 yds down the road!

I had diconected the coil and removed the rota arm as i always do when not using the van,so they either worked this out or it was towed away, I do hope it turns up.

i know this might be a long shot ,but is there any cctv cameras in the area?
mate of mine had his imp stolen from a car park in sheffield he use to take the steering wheel off[little 10" jobby] and the roter arm but it disappered went to police and they studyed the cctv and low and behold 1 tranny recovery whinching his car on the back
telephone numbers and company name on the van, one visit to the scrap yard later and theres his imp in bits in the company building.
but he got it back and the yard was closed down because most of the cars there were stolen.

Oh dear - well you did take good precautions - does sound like a tow-away/recovery job. But it may show up on CCTV cameras along the road some where nearby ? Keep a close eye on ebay etc

Can you post a picture? - I know we all know what a van looks like, but a picture may help. Am sure everyone will keep an eye out.

Not very attractive, but would a good old fashioined wheel-clamp prevent tow-away thefts?

Not being funny Andrew, but some of the cheap clamps can be taken off VERY easily and quickly

good point
i will take a pic tommorow and post it on here to see what you think.?
the point was that if they wanted the car they would have to make alot of noise to break a wheel clamp and a steering wheel clamp. and also open the bonnet for the battery isulation switch

STOLEN!!

I would STRONGLY advise Minor owners to make a note of their vehicles' cab/body numbers!

Do NOT take the plate off - VERY important! Simply ensure the number is noted correctly and written on the V5 or somewhere safe!

Therefore ANY Minor with a missing/tampered cab/body number plate should be treated with caution - or that's the plan!

Minor LCVs can be accurately dated, thus "lemons" easily established.

This is MY advice!!
