Some HORRIBLE person took my car on 24/10/2013 from Westcroft Square W6 0TA. The registration is VNL 961H and it is Blue/Grey. If anybody knows anything or sees it, please can you tell the police or ring me on 07939 205 083. I am keeping everything crossed because I REALLY, REALLY want my car back. Thank you.

The people on here notice moggies, moggie parts, etc more than most. Has the car got any really distinctive features, dents, colour differences, accessories, modifications, defects, that would stand it out even if the id was changed? It might help if you have a photo or photos that you could post on here?

Cancel the tax disc on it right away - then it may be picked up as 'untaxed' if it's still running around on the original ID - unlikely I know. Warning to all - thieves are out there - make SURE your car is fitted with at the very minimum, a secret switch.

Thank you for your nice replies. The chassis and engine numbers are the same: MAWSD1274591. The floor is original and the clutch has just been replaced. The varnish is darker than the original wood. The bodywork is in quite good nick, no bumps. Thank you all for your help and advice. x[frame][/frame]

Vey sorry to hear of your (hopefully temporary) loss. Is your car really LHD or has the image been reversed?

Place a feature/pic in your local paper - worked for the
Peat Brown convertable!

Would imagine the above was being stored somewhere
where it could be seen/recognised by the public, hence the
"hot potato" reaction by those who stole it - my view anyway!

For a visual deterant I have just picked up a half moon steering lock off a car boot for a fiver,made for halfords I think....it fits my large moggy perfectly once the inner spacers on it are removed....some years ago I had a friend who had a garage forcourt which had the old Austin maestro s on the front...always being nicked....so these half/ full moon jobbies were put on every one...not one was stolen again....here is a video online somewhere where it took around 28 mins to get the half moon off with an angle grinder....around 35 mins for the full moon to be taken off....although I don t think the full moon will fit due to the steering wheel being so close to the windscreen...

It is not a LH drive. I think the picture has been reversed.
Also, just remembered, I had the wood over left hand back wheel renewed, so it is lighter than the rest.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! MY CAR HAS BEEN FOUND.

It is a bit of a miracle. A very observant bus driver who had seen the notices we put up,
His bus was diverted via Bollo Lane, and he was sitting in a traffic jam when he noticed a Morris Traveller parked in an alcove off the main road.
When he got home, he checked on this website and found it was my number. He then went back to see what state the car was in, and when he found it was not bad he rang me. GREAT REJOICING!!!
We are taking him out to supper tonight to celebrate and thank him for his extraordinary kindness.

Less than 2 miles from where it was stolen, putting up notices seems like an effective ploy as they often don't go very far.

Looks like if your moggie goes missing blanket the area shops, communal areas, and anywhere else you can legally post a 'missing' notice. Include good description, key features, photos, contact numbers. Enlist help! Hand the posters out to as many people as you can within a two mile radius as quickly as possible. Move to maybe a four mile radius after 7 to 10 days, if no initial response.

Above I have just offered a few thoughts that appear to positively work given some recent vehicle recoveries. Take them apart, add to them, let's build an effective immediate response guide.

Should we then post this guidance response notice at the top of the discussion listings which may help a fairly distressed victim get off the ground running and get their vehicle back?

Doesn't happen too regularly, but once is too often.
