My comments/post above are suggestions.

The problem of theft is not going to go away - so make it as difficult as possible to move the car.

But here are some more:-

Spacer padlocked in place around brake/clutch so that neither can be utilised.

The gear lever and handbrake locked in gear/handbrake applied using a clamp fitted between handbrake and gear lever or floor and gear lever. I had one of these fitted to my Ser 2.

A good quality steering wheel cover disc.

Burglar alarm.

Hidden ignition isolator switch.

A fuel or oil pressure isolation switch so that when the fuel or oil pressure rises it cuts the ignition.

A blocking post immediately in front of the vehicle.

Unfortunately a determined thief with a battery operated disc cutter and a tow vehicle/trailer/beaver tail will soon have the vehicle away.

We can do all the above, be nice if the courts did their bit. This wrist slapping isn't working.

The selling of documentation without the accompanying car on Ebay doesn't help either. It should be made illegal.

The v5 is the property of dvla, selling is illegal.

Hollowed-out steering column with a .22RF cartridge in the bottom and a remote electric firing pin triggered by mobile phone. That'll do it!

Trouble with that is that a) the bullet might miss and damage the car and b) that even if the bullet goes straight into the skull of the tea leaf, it is likely to miss what passes for the brain by several feet.

Similar set-up to that suggested by RobThomas, but using a BB gun placed vertically beneath the driver's seat then... more accurate... ?

Valid criticism. Poison dart injection is safer for the car.

I heard of someone who rigged up a system which locked the doors when a thief drove off and injected some kind of knock-out gas into the car. Don't think it was a Morris though...............

Do the doors ever fit well enough to make the interior gas-tight?

The result being a wrecked car and the death of those he run down!

Maybe I shouldn't show one of my anti theft devices, but here goes.

I have fitted a similar device to the 'you tube' video to my car, I fitted the device under the seat and the wire going to the drivers door.
Just don't forget it is attached as I once did as it fills the car with smoke if the door is opened too far and trips the wire.

Most gun shops sell them as shed mines.

What bad news. I've just etched the window glass of my Convertible and used Smartwater extensively for a total cost of £29. I hope the prominent stickers put the scumbags off!

Make a note of the body & engine number

Trackers are dirt cheap on Ebay .

Trackers seem to fall into two broad categories.

There are the passive ones like the Tile that work on Bluetooth. You really need to be very close (in car terms) for them to be effective. But they are cheap.

Then there are the gps/mobile network ones that are great, but you need a SIM card subscription to make them work. That can get a bit pricey.

I have researched using a tracker and have found they are a bit limited. If you fit one you have to be careful where you fit it as under the bonnet shrouds it in metal and makes it very ineffective and if using an aerial makes it obvious to thieves. Thieves often park a stolen vehicle in a metal container for a few days so the tracker cannot find it and that reinforces the fact you have to be careful where you place it in the car re: shielding.

Most of them will work anywhere a mobile phone (and its gps) will work, so inside the car under the carpet may be a solution. Under the bonnet, not so good. I’ve got one in my “modern” and it works happily sitting on the transmission tunnel, under the carpet.

Our local Bobby says we've got the perfect way to stop anyone pinching the Morris. An old Defender parked outside! Easier to nick and worth more...
