How to test a smiths heater works?
Hi all, i have an old smiths heater and was wondering how to test it as it is removed from the car at present, the car had an alternator so not sure if this does anything to the electrics? cheers

Whilst it is off the car you can connect the heater motor to a good battery and with the heater switch on the motor will run. With the heater on it's side you can also fill the matrix with water and leave for a wee while and check it holds water.
If you wnt to be really thorough you could dismantle the heater box and clean out all the fluff etc then having verified it holds water run water from a hose pipe through the matrix both ways to try and remove any build up of silt this will help to make it more efficient.
