Hi All
To continue, fitted a 5 Degree offset key, gaps now inlet .042" exhaust .056". The engine now runs much smoother,
and therefore the timing is much easier to set up, and there is no kick back on starting.
On the road there is a marked improvement, lets hope the MPG improves by 25%.
Thanks to all who contributed, and to you Roy, for giving everyone the method for checking the valve timing quickly.
As its GOOD MANNERS DAY, a big thank you, and regards Win

Well done ! Glad it worked out for you, and well done tracking down the reason for the poor running. Original cams are usually very accurate - but perhaps you have aftermarket timing sprockets fitted, and these may not be as accurate.
