A friend has purchased a Ital 1.3ltr engine and Ford Sierra Type 9 gearbox.
He has informed me he is having difficulty in finding a thrust bearing and clutch arrangement to suit this modification.
The layshaft of the gearbox is 33mm diameter,7inches long, and 26 splines.
Has anyone carried out this conversion or do you know the parts he needs to finish off the work.?
All answers greatly received.

Re: Five Speed Gearbox Fitment.
Hi,
I have just bought a MM Convertable from a reputable firm in Bristol.
The car is fitted with a Marina 1275cc engine and Sierra 5 Speed gearbox.
I asked the question what clutch assembly had been fitted and was told the three parts,(i.e. Pressure plate, Friction plate and Thrust bearing) were made up from MG and Toyota parts.
I have not asked what parts come from the MG and what parts come from the Toyota, but am going to when I pick up the car.
Not sure if this helps but I am sure the guys on this forum will know.
All the best,
Ian

Does he have the Bell-housing conversion that fits the engine/gearbox together? If yes, did it come bolted together or were they purchased separately?

From memory...
Mine uses a spridget clutch fork, pushing a modified Ford bearing against a 1800 pinto clutch and plate. (The pressure plate is the bit I cannot remember 100%)]
I believe that you can use an 1800 Pinto clutch plate with the standard minor pressure plate & release bearing

Are you sure it has 26 splines on the shaft? Most British cars from this era (70's & 80's), as far as I'm aware, use the same spline and count and diameter shaft (20 and 23 spline).
