Re: cutting out
it ticks over fine most of the time i could be driving for a while then when i press the clutch at a junction it cuts out. But will start straight away first turn of the key
Re: cutting out
Idle speed too low - raise it slightly (especially in winter) - also could be clutch going down too far and loading up the engine thrusts unnecessarily, and of course - increased drag from generator with lights/heater/wipers etc all in use. Also not helped by generally cold engine - fit a winter stat (88 C) to help keep it warm - and give a decent heater output!

Re: cutting out
Check the piston in the carb rises and then drops freely and is not sticking- Mine did this and it was the cause of cutting out at junctions when the clutch was pressed.
Re: cutting out
Don't pay over the odds for that stat (and you WILL need a gasket too) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-AUSTI ... 2a326359ef
