Mini boss?
Hi everyone iv seen a mini boss to fit a aftermarket steering wheel and on the listing the mini boss has a code A008 type. So I know the mini boss will fit but does this code mean that it won't fit because it could be different.
Re: Mini boss?
It should fit the steering column splines alright. The 'horn' arrangement will be different.
Re: Mini boss?
What would I have to do to get my horn back? Or working.
Re: Mini boss?
The Mini uses a push switch on the indicator stalk - so either fit a Mini stalk - or just a big red button on the dash panel! Need to mark it as the 'horn' to satisfy MOT.

Re: Mini boss?
You don't need to mark it for an MOT. It just has to work.
If the tester cannot find it then you can show him

You sure? I think it has to be identified - either with 'Horn' - or the trumpet symbol on modern cars. Either way - it's a trivial thing!
Re: Mini boss?
Cannot I just leave the wires and fit the old horn back onto the new wheel?

Re: Mini boss?
Heres what i did to the horn in my steering wheel, i removed the horn spring and connectors and soldered the wire onto one terminal on the push switch then put heat shrink over the top, then i bended the other terminal out so it touches the earth inside the coloum. It fits nice and snug and it is the ideal size to fit inside, almost like it was made to fit.
Just need to fit a new steering wheel nut now as its now on show
also the horn does not have to be marked for the mot tester, if they cant find something like a horn, fuel cap release or canot release a stuck bonnet it comes up with a failure as item can not be found and thus checked, but most of the time the customer is hanging about when an mot is in progress
