1098cc gearbox question

Post by mmjosh »

hi all my friend has a split screen morris and wondered can he use the long gear stick on the 1098cc gearbox or would he have to stick to the 803cc gearbox,i have heard that you can use them on a 948cc gearbox by altering the remote housing but unsure with the 1098cc gearbox

cheers josh

It has been done josh - but not a straight swap on the 1098 box. It is a straight swap on a 948 box. If you search back you should find how others have overcome the problems.

I think a spacer is needed between the remote section and the box.

Pretty sure Callyspoy did it without using a spacer - some mods to the selectors IIRC ....but it was a while back.

think ive got it 4mm aluminium spacer,2 gaskets, mainshaft space machined to 84mm long, longer studs, grind end of selector rods and use 803 remote housing.

Depends on the engine being used - not the gearbox.
