suspension (should i be worried)
I have noticed for sometime now that the left rear leaf spring on my Morris is rusted should I be worried? how can I prevent further corrosion and how can I do it on a budget I obviously will replace the entire unit if needed but I don't think its that bad could someone please advise me on this subject. thank you in advance. tezm8.

Wire brush followed by spray with old engine oil...... Repeat as necessary...

The trouble with oiling old springs is that the ends of the spring leaf may have worn into the leaf below and above. You oil the spring, the spring leaf moves more; hits the wear ridge and breaks. If you are going to oil the springs I would suggest that you strip the springs make sure that there is no wear ridge at the end of the leaf either below or above and if there is smooth it out and then oil the springs when assembling them. Cheaper than replacing a broken spring.
