Post by mark t4 »

Hi

can anyone tell me if the all cast iron manifolds on a 948cc and the 1098cc are the same?

Im only asking because im using a 1098 head but my 948 manifold and i dont have a 1098 to compare

Thanks

The 948cc manifold and the 1098cc manifolds are different but interchangeable.
The 948cc manifold is a two piece manifold in that the inlet is alloy and the exhaust cast iron. They are bolted together.
The 1098cc manifold is a one piece casting and is all cast iron.

See diagrams in the link below:-

Thanks Phil :D

The manifold that was on my 948 head is all cast iron so guess it might of been swapped some time in the past?

Sounds like i dont need too worry then :)

Check that the engine fitted is indeed a 948cc.
It should have 950 cast into the block just below the front cam foller/tappet cover.
The 1098cc engine has a 1100 metal tag attached to the block in a similar place.
The manifold that you have is a good upgrade for the 948cc engine.
