Morris leans to one side

Post by andrew.searston »

Hi everyone
My 2 door leans to the left enough to be noticed when looking at, I’ve changed to new rear springs as they needed doing anyway, but suspect passenger side front is the issue, how to you adjust the height to bring it level
Also any common problems to suspension sag
Thanks
Andy

For small adjustments (1/4" at a time) use the micro adjustment plate (Item No: 78 in the attached link Pt No: AAA1852) at the rear of the torsion bar and which has a lip which fits under the top of the cross member.
For larger adjustments (1 1/2" at a time) move the thick/thin suspension arms at the front of the torsion bar.

Check the eye bolt bushes and the metal around the eye bolt and the condition of the cross member where the adjustment plate is attached.

To adjust the height either at the front or rear of the torsion bar the load must be taken off the torsion bar so jack and secure with axle stands, also chock the rear wheels.

If you jack the back up under the diff then you can see if there is any difference in height at the front.

The only way to check if the front ride height is correct is to use the measurements and instructions contained in BMC wksp manual Section K2. Fig K3.

Mine developed a bit of a lean. Solved the problem by insisting that Mrs Clem always sits in the front passenger seat
