Split Pin? Rear Shocks

Post by MichaelBeck »

Hi Guys

Do the rear shocks have a split pin at the body end of the linkage? Mine have castellated nuts however the studs don't appear to have any holes for insertion of a split pin. Also how tight should these nuts be done up?

Thanks

I think you might find the holes are present, but disguised!
Unless the stud is part of an aftermarket repair which wasn't drilled.

The pin should have a split pin hole but I would Just fit a nylock nut unless you want to keep authenticity.
The retaining washer should be done up against the shoulder of the stud.
You can now get poly bushes for the top of the link.

Thanks Guys, I remember taking them out years ago but I couldn't find the hole. Do they go in horizontal i.e parallel to the spring?

The split pins on my Minor are fitted horizontally.
