Im looking at thermostats on ebay and there are several listed, starting at 74 degrees up to 88 degrees.
Which one would be recommended and would the setting make a difference to the reading on the temp gauge please?

Re: thermostat queery
I don’t think I have ever put any thermostat lower than 88 degrees Celsius in any engine ever - by choice. How often are thermostats changed in modern cars? That’s right, never!
Of course it should alter the reading on the temperature gauge - they are very different temperatures on the scale. However, the temperature gauge is usually no more than an indicator - it’s not a precision device, even if you are led to believe otherwise. It indicates more or less and it is up to the user to decide if it is within the acceptable range or without.
