Crankshaft pulle nut?
Hi all, if I've changed my original crankshaft pulley wheel for a damper type wheel can I re use the original dog bolt or do I need to source one from a damper wheel car?

You can use the original starter dog bolt with the damper type crankshaft pulley and torqued to the same torque as the Minor crankshaft pulley which is 70 lbf ft.
Always use a new lock washer.

I also use the starting handle dog bolt with the damper crankshaft pulley, but I use Loctite 243 theadlock on the bolt with NO lock washer. With the lock washer, it is a pig to get out with the deeper damper pulley. Even with 'only' 70 lbf. ft. torque, it needs a good impact wrench to undo it without putting a lot of strain on the transmission line - easy with the engine out, but in the car is more difficult.
A 'deep' 1 5/16" AF socket is needed with the starting handle dog bolt.
The Loctite has been used for around 20 years now, and never had any problem. Have just fitted a new cam in our 1380, and about to refit the crankshaft pulley this morning, with Loctite 243 at the ready!

The MG TD uses shims behind the starter dog, the thickness of which, determines the orientation of the starter dog relative to the crankshaft. This enables setting the optimal position of the starter handle on the compression stroke.
