I doubt you will be able to keep your original knob.
Replacements are available through the usual suspects

It is possible to replace if care is taken the inner cable. I have done it in the past without any problems.

Is it screwed in. Kept in by small screw?

I soldered the earth wire from some 2.5 mm twin and earth for my inner choke cable, still working fine after a few years.
