Re: Plug gap
It depend upon the coil fitted.
What do the fitting instructions say? If you do not have the instructions you may be able to find them on the web.
I would set plug gaps to 0.025" - see how it runs and then set to 0.030" and see if there is any improvement. If there is an improvement leave at 0.030".
I have checked the instructions for the fitment of the Luminition performance electronic ignition and the performance coil fitted to my Minor and there is no real guidance.
All I can say is that the more powerful the spark the denser the mixture can be i.e. more petrol to air ratio - so if you are running a normal carb, even 1.5" or 1.3/4" sized and normal mixture (14/1) then 0.025" plug gap is more than adequate.
With the twin 45DCOE Weber carbs fitted to my Minor the mixture is normally on the rich side so the ignition does need the extra oomph of the performance coil with the spark plug gap opened up to 0.030" to ignite up that additional fuel.
