Removing front seats in traveller

Just a quick question before I get going - are the seat mounting bolts screwed into captive nuts on the floor pan, or do i need a socket/spanner on the underside?

When you put them back put a good dose of grease in the nuts.

Hi Suzie, you just undo the bolt from the inside of the car that secures the two seat brackets.
The captive nuts are what the bolts screw into under the floor welded underside so just spray some wd40 into the threads when they are undone.

You can just undo the bolts holding the seat retaining brackets.

On a plate which is welded to the underside of the floor are a series of captive nuts through which the securing bracket bolts are fitted - see photo below.

Give all the bolts a good soak in release oil before attempting to remove the bolts though they usually come out quite easily.

don't forget to wire brush any undersea etc off the bit of the bolt sticking out before squirting penetrating fluid (NOT WD40 use something like Plus Gas) on. The undersea and any other crud on the threads can make them seize up as you undo them from the inside.
