How do you fit weather strips inside the doors?

Post by nslocomotive »

Hi

Ive bought a new set of weather strips to go into the viodbetwen the door and the windup window. But cant see an easy way of fitting them, any IDEAS?

Im sure someone out there has done a few, only when I wash my car the water runs straight down the window into the door :o

Obviously I need to sort it.

Many thanks to anyone who can help :)
Regards

Nigel

if you wind the windoe down you should see a series of holes in the door. the seal is held in these by spring clips. when i did mine i took what was left of the old ones out using a pen knife, then put the clips into the new seal and manovered it into the correct one clip at a time starting with the most difficult (the rear clip for mine) once these were near position i pushed the back of the clip with a flat blade screwdriver and the clip clicked into position!

it worked well for me i did both inside and outside at the same time and put new modern rubber seals on the outside instead of the felt type. now the window does not rattle and the water stays out.

i got my seals and new clips from ESM, i believe for the four door it is the same part and you have to cut it to size.
hope this helps.

yeah there handy enough, the backs on a 4 door are harder. the stop at the back needs out to let the window down far enough. ill have to get round to the backs on mine sometime.
