Sunvisor morris or not?

Post by GABRIEAL GRUB »

Hi Guys, I have been searching the web for an interior passenger side sun visor to match my drivers side one. The problem is my one doesn't seem to match anything out there. I've got a 1954 serious II split screen with a brown head lining and a tapered shape matching sun visor. Is this a normal morris visor? if not, what could it be from..... any ideas would be helpful, where can I get one to match.

That is an original series 2 one, it is painted on card in grey.
Do you need the passenger one?
In 1954 you may not have had one, if there are 2 holes then there should be one! :D
My 1956 Series 11 Traveller! Bought when I was 17 (1985)....sold 6 years (1991) later......bought back 9 years after that! (2000) With 6 different owners in the middle, what a lucky boy I am!

Hi, yes it was never supposed to have one on the passenger side but my wife wants one. what can I say.... Not sure about being painted card though. My one seems to be leather with stitched edges? where can I get another one?

This is yet another variant - what were Morris Motors thinking of when they were fitting "accessories"?
Here are a couple of photos of the passenger side sun visor from my March 1951 Series MM (side valve) 2 dr saloon.[frame]Image[/frame]Side 1 and[frame]Image[/frame]Side 2.
It is now dark and very late (for me to go out to the car) - I cannot remember which view is the "inside" one - this will have to wait until tomorrow.
The interesting thing is that the visors seem to be the same size and shape, but the fixtures are quite different.

My 52 Series MM has the first type of visor, card with stitching around the edge. It also has a passenger visor, drivers visor turned upside down!

My one looks to be made from the same material and covering as the solid roof lining sections (the lining comes in three pieces, running from front to back). There is no evidence of any stitching.

Usually see these at the national rally, amongst the other later visors in the autojumble.

Be aware that if you have to drill new holes for passenger side visor, that they are not in line. Check the original visor holes for correct orientation.
How do I know - fitted visors to my recently finished car (never bothered with visors before this) and the 2 passenger side holes had been drilled by previous owner and were wrong
I've only owned the car for 42 years.

Hi Mike, yours seems the same as mine although mine is a light brown colour to match the head lining. Any ideas where I should start looking for one. I've already tried Ebay, and a couple of Morris dealers plus a company called Newton Commercial. But none of them do the same as yours and mine.... oh, and yes I was going to put mine in upside down as well.[frame]Image[/frame]

Hi Daisy, not long had the Morris (Called Emily) so haven't managed to get to any meeting or auto jumble events yet.... will have to look up where the next one which is closest to me in Sevenoaks is and pop along.... David

Similarish pair on Ebay at the moment - but you'd have to recolour the leather

Hi Mark, thanks v much but believe it or not I came across a pair the same as mine today only 8 miles away. They needed a good clean and re-stitching which I did this afternoon. I will be putting the left one in on Sat so will post a picture this weekend. I do now have a spare one if anyone wants it (dirty and unstitched) just give me bell on 01474-853557 and ill send it out there.

Many thanks for all the advise and suggestions....... Gabrieal

Whilst on the subject, where can I get the plastic clip above the driver's door (68), which holds the visor when swung to the side?

Pop a request in the "Wanted" section? check Ebay as they do sometimes appear.
