Fibreglass Bumpers
Has anyone tried making their own Minor (or other classic) fibreglass or even carbon fibre bumpers? I'm wanting to make them for my Minor and possibly my Austin A40 and have been wondering how to take the mould from the actual bumper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Fibreglass Bumpers
You can already buy fibreglass front and rear bumpers for Minors. Not expensive either!
There are bound to be 'how to' videos and explainations on youtube or forums.
I know the theory, but not the practical process - basically you can make a fibreglass mould from an original panel, then use that fibreglass mould to make fibreglass panels.

Cover bumper with clingfilm. Then gelcoat. Then mat and resin(overlapping the bumper so you can trim the edge once its gone off).Thats your mould. Then wax polish the mould(when I was at Plaxtons' coachbuilders they used old fashioned Simoniz). Then gelcoat. Then lay up your mat and resin(overlapping the mould). When its gone off trim the edges and (with a prayer)remove your bumper from your mould.Thats the basics anyway.
