Looks like someone has been messing about with it before, if you're ok with woodwork cut it out and get another piece made.

Rather than disturb the sides, why don't you make the rear piece in two parts, then if tenoned, slide each side, when made, into each mortice and join in the middle with a half lap joint, or even a comb joint if you feel clever. As Said earlier you need to have the right gear, be accurate with measurements and have done a bit of woodwork before!

oh dear Les, I think this job will very difficult but I will try and find some wood maybe a hard wood like a door/window frame, or just get the proper thing from woodies.

but 45£ is two weeks money for my family, so its a lot for us.

Here is a view of the inside bottom of the left hand rear post. On the right is the bottom of the arch where the wing fits. The hole is for the bottom light fitting, and the two cuts outs are where the "ladder" that Alan needs to replace, fits. It's just so that you know what you're trying to fit in to.[frame]Image[/frame]

Whatever Alan touches seems to be either rotten or broken!

What's the opposite of "The Midas Touch" in Minor speak?!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

There are good things about my car! however you are right at the moment I plan to touch and try to restore or replace anything rotten or broken... There is a lot of rust and rotting woods, however it has been untouched for about 15 years.

Thank you for the reminder of how bad things are...
