Boot lid
Hi
I have a 1959 4 door saloon that has a rotten boot lid all along the bottom so im looking for a replacement
if im looking for a second hand item is there only certain years that will fit my car? or is that a part morris didnt tinker with?
Thanks
Mark

Re: Boot lid
Any Minor bootlid should fit but there was an update around 1964 when the telescopic stay was fitted. The inner frame on the later bootlid is slightly different because of this.
Good luck finding a rustfree secondhand bootlid though. Most of us could do with one of those! Getting your original one repaired might be a better option - repair panels are available.

Re: Boot lid
I have done a 'non weld' repair on my boot lid which I posted a short while ago. If you want this and some further notes PM me.
I looked at a repair section but didn't want the hassle of a respray in that area at the moment - really dpends on the extent of the rot!

Re: Boot lid
Pre 1956 lids have different badge holes and on the very early lids the lock is in a different position

Re: Boot lid
Thanks guys
The boot is only fit for scrap really as it was repaired badly in the 90s and now the bottom about 3 inchs up on the inside and outside are mega rotten with holes and bits missing so im going to look at a replacement as the cost of repair panel and welding charges plus extra prep time by a body shop make it none economical
I just needed to know which years i should look for so i dont get something that doesnt fit

Re: Boot lid
Couldn't find one 6 years ago. Perhaps someone's started to do them?

Re: Boot lid
May be the only way to get a decent one in the short term - you can always swap it out later when you find a good metal one...
