Boot lid

Hi I've just bought a boot lid in fibreglass and want to know what's the best way to fit and also a fibreglass sun visor.Thanks Kev

i can not help with the fitting of the boot but be aware if you have fitted an aftermarket hydraulic boot ram apparently they are so strong for the fiberglass boots can bend.

I imagine it fits with the normal hinges!

Thanks guys,I've decided to keep as much strength from metal one and fit fibreglass one over the top.

I am guessing that the idea is to take the framework off the inside of the rusty one and glue it into the GRP outer shell.

Presume it's a weight saving exercise, not sure adding the original framework would achieve that.

I think it is more likely that he is replacing a rusty boot lid.

Lets here from the OP what he is wanting to achieve.

I assumed a fibre boot would come complete and ready to fit... Not just a 'skin' ...

I bought a fiber glass one once, worst thing I ever did. The holes for the hinges were in the wrong place, I had to use a file to get enough room for the hinge bolts in, and the boot stay threads were different to my original bolts.

Still trying to remedy this issue, not to mention it feels like it's going to split in half every time I open it!
